Granite Chief July 1-2 Cancelled

Friday July 1 and Saturday July 2, 2022 work in Granite Chief Wilderness

Come assist us implement the trail re-route project in Granite Chief Wilderness. Over the summer of 2022 will be working alongside professional trail builders to create a new route from Watson Monument to the Lyon Ridge Aid Station location. We will create a sustainable trail, higher up on the ridge from the current trail, where you will be treated to spectacular views. We will also be closing portions of the current route through environmentally sensitive terrain, where grades are steep and unsustainable. Come learn and practice sustainable trail building skills in a wilderness area. Access to the wilderness will be through Palisades Tahoe Resort (arrangements are being made). Because the work site is remote volunteer efforts will comprise two days (Friday and Saturday) with volunteers camping out with the professional trail crew base camp on Friday night at Little Needle Lake. Cooking facilities will be available, but volunteers will need to carry in food and a sleeping bag. Additional details will be sent out once logistics have been fully refined.
