Crew Activities

Olympic Valley

Looking for something to do at Olympic Valley while your runner sorts and resorts her crew supplies and drop bags? In addition to the many clinics and meetings (see Race Week Agenda), there are lots of opportunities for you to get out and enjoy the mountains.

  • Ride the Gondola from Olympic Valley to High Camp
  • Go for a run/hike up the Shirley Trail
  • Go to Lake Tahoe
  • Attend the Flag Raising Ceremony on Thursday
  • Run the Uphill Challenge on Friday

Foresthill

Here are some ideas if you have the time while waiting for your runner at the 62 mile point of the course in the town of Foresthill.

  • Take in the historical artifacts and displays at the Foresthill Museum or relax under the tall pines and cedars in Leroy Botts Memorial Park located on Harrison Street.
  • Grab a bite to eat at one of the restaurants in town (Dragon In Chinese, Sugar Pine Pizza, Ore Cart, Johnny’s Deli at Wortons Market or Stones Brew Coffee House.)
  • Check out the historical cemeteries nearby (Catholic on Foresthill Rd. or Community on Church Street, Michigan Bluff or Todds Valley)
  • Visit Sugar Pine Reservoir or the China Wall Staging area
  • Tahoe National Forest ranger station (located just before the Foresthill Divide Middle School) for information or a map of local trails to explore

You can get more information by stopping in at the Chamber of Commerce on Main Street.

Auburn

Here are some suggestions for after the race is over and you’re looking for something to do in Auburn.

  • Go to Old Town Auburn and try one of the nice restaurants there (Auburn Ale House, Bootleggers, Carpe Vino).
  • Check out the Auburn Dam Overlook and the remains of the ill-fated Auburn Dam.
  • Go for a hike down to the confluence of the Middle and North Forks of the American River and No Hands Bridge.
