El Dorado Canyon – post-fire restoration April 2

Date: April 2, 2023

Help us work on restoring the trail after the Mosquito Fire. This work will be done on both the California Street section of the Western States Trail and in El Dorado Canyon, in conjunction with the Western States Trail Foundation (Tevis). Expect to work a long hard day with a commute on foot of 5-8 miles round trip. Bring lunch, water, long sleeve shirt, long pants, sturdy boots, gloves, and weather appropriate clothing. We will provide hard hats and eye protection (if needed). This work will include moving dirt and/or rocks and cutting vegetation.

The meeting time will be 8:00AM at the former Foresthill Elementary School (WSER Aid Station location). We will hold a tailgate safety meeting, sign waivers, split into 2 groups, and coordinate transportation to our work sites, which will include the Foresthill Transfer Station on Patent Road (4-6 volunteers) and Michigan Bluff (remaining volunteers).
